The Margo Leonetti O'Connell '60 Students Advancing in Internship Leadership and Learning (SAILL) Program
Our signature Internship Program, The Margo Leonetti O'Connell '60 Students Advancing in Internship Leadership and Learning (SAILL) Program, has rapidly grown from 2 girls to over 60 student interns annually! This signature program fosters personal, educational and professional growth. Our girls become involved with a community of scholars and leaders while also learning the technicalities of some of the most renowned organizations to work for in Los Angeles.
SAILL is open to rising sophomores and above, providing our students opportunities to work with extraordinary leaders who are not only role models, but who have made important contributions within their fields. We believe the learning experience begins during the selection process: each student who applies for an internship and is often interviewed, providing practice and direction on presentation skills and highlighting her strengths and unique qualifications. As students are selected, they are "matched" with their preferred internship programs/fields, then move into their placements (typically for 4-6 weeks), where they deepen and broaden their knowledge and skills in "real life" work situations.

"Pin ups were essentially presentations to the whole firm/those who attended that touched on things we worked on in the past week. This event allowed me to be more confident with public speaking and to also establish ways to sort my ideas."
"My view of learning has changed in that I am now able to view problems or experiments from a place of greater curiosity as well as in a data-driven manner. I understand that curiosity and execution go hand-in-hand if you want to obtain answers to your questions. It is not enough to simply ask. Rather, you must seek data and results to prove a hypothesis right or wrong. This is the essence of scientific thinking, a skill of mine that has been sharpened and enhanced because of my internship experience."
"I have grown so much in the short amount of time I worked at the GCI. Although I might not want to go in the art conservation field, I learned a lot about work ethic and what it'll be like to have a real job."
