Dear Marymount community,

 

I am writing to provide an update on our Head of School search. Over the past few weeks, the Search Committee reviewed dozens of applicant files, reached consensus, and invited semi-finalists to confidential, in-person interviews. Each of the semi-finalists offered broad skills, talents, and experience. After thoughtful deliberation, the Search Committee again reached consensus to invite three Finalists to campus for additional meetings and interviews, and to meet with various members of our community. 

 

Each candidate will be on campus for separate two-day visits beginning Monday, September 23rd. During their visits, candidates will meet with Trustees, faculty, administrators, staff, students, parents, and alumnae representatives. This is an opportunity for our School community to learn more about each candidate and for each candidate to learn more about us. Please note that each candidate will be announced just prior to her respective visit. For those who will be meeting with the candidates, a schedule will be provided shortly. Those who meet with the candidates will have the opportunity to share their thoughts with the search committee via an online feedback form.

We would like to briefly remind you of the process established for determining the next Head of School. Understanding that hiring this position is one of the most important responsibilities of the Board, an ad hoc Search committee was established to facilitate this work. Throughout the search process this Committee has gathered data through evaluation of candidate materials, interviews, reference checks, observations, analyses, etc., to find the right person to lead Marymount High School. The Committee’s work will be further informed by information gleaned through the Finalist Candidate visits. Following those visits the Committee will meet to determine their top candidate, and will ultimately make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees for their review and final decision. Once this is complete, the Board will make an announcement regarding the new Head of School.

Please note that the Search Committee will be thoroughly checking references for each candidate. Due to the serious nature of this process and professional courtesies we must provide to the candidates, we ask that you allow the Search Committee, and the Search Committee only, to conduct these reference checks. This is an exciting time for our School community and we look forward to this phase of our search for the next head of Marymount High School. As stated above, we will provide you more details just prior to each finalist’s respective visit.
