JV Soccer Values Team Camaraderie

The Marymount JV Soccer Team began with six non-league games consisting of three victories and three tough loses. This combination of wins and losses gave the Sailors an opportunity to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses.

It ultimately allowed the team to develop into a confident and cohesive team comprised of members who were supportive and encouraging teammates. The team also enjoyed a strong 3rd place finish at the Grace Brethren Tournament where they defeated powerhouse team Fillmore High School.

Marymount’s JV Soccer Team was fortunate to field a team full of proactive and engaged players ready to battle for the Sailors.  Four returning players, including team captains Clare Cooper and Catherine Campbell, midfield offensive specialist Grace Gruber, along with defensive specialist Kristin Shields provided strength, leadership and experience for the team.  These four athletes facilitated the tone for the fourteen players joining the Sailor Soccer Program.  The new players helped to boost the growth and energy of the program, with potential and passion for the game.  The heart of the defense was goalie, Katherine Scibelli, who was aided by Carolina Perez, Alexandra Maggiacomo, Emma Rohrbacher, Sophia Rogers, and Siobhan Burke who stood firm with their relentless efforts to stop every attack brilliantly. The creative midfield included Josephine Rielly, Isabella Wright, Malia Verge, Olivia Cuevas, Catherine Campbell, and Caitlyn Caputo who created opportunities for the Sailors every game.  The offense was led by Caroline Douglas’s weaving around defenders, Ava Prunier Herman’s busting speed, Tessa Luini’s passing skills and Clare Cooper’s intuitive sense for scoring goals.

The Sailors showed great perseverance, sportsmanship and a unifying fun attitude at each and every practice and game. As the soccer program moves forward, Coach Lasan Darboe feels confident in the motivation and abilities of the Sailor-Strong athletes.
