The Marymount Sailors are looking forward to their second year of exciting and tough competition in the Mission League. Many of the athletes attended preseason conditioning with Coach Andres to help them prepare for the onset of the season.
Coach Lasan is thrilled that a substantial number of veteran track athletes are returning. These seasoned athletes will provide valuable experience, leadership and guidance for the younger team members. The returners include, Valory Banashek, Megan Forbes, Claire Pregler, Nicole Jackson, Lindsey McAllister, Claire McGuinness, Naomi Smith, Malina Yago, Olivia Thomas, Katie Ascher, Jillian Turkmany and Cynthia Reznik.
The team has also picked up some very strong and impressive new talent this year. The coaches are excited and are hopeful these new athletes will increase the overall strength and depth of the team: Hannah Peck, Mychae’l Green, Megan Carroll, Ava Prunier-Herman, Bella Wright, Alicia Quille-Strickland, Siobhan Burke and Hareena Johnson, to name but a few.
With the new long jump facility on campus that Coach Lasan built this winter, the jumpers are in a good position to stay ahead of their game. That, along with a rigorous practice schedule of both morning and afternoon practices as well as weekends, the Sailors are feeling strong and well prepared. There will be two levels of competition in the Mission League both varsity and junior varsity. The season will start with the Culver City Invitational on Saturday March 5th followed by the first league meet against Alemany on March 10.
The team is primed and ready to embrace the tough season that lies ahead of them.
