The Sailors Blast Past 5 Competitors at ASICS

The Sailors were in full form this past weekend at the ASICS Tournament in San Diego! Varsity Volleyball swept past 5 schools, including the #4 CIF Team, San Juan! Extra congrats to Devon Newberry & Grace Frohling who made All-Tournament!

Tournament Results:

Eastlake
25-19
25-22
Devon, Ana & Sarah 2 aces
Devon had 13 kills and 7 digs to lead the team to the win.
Ruby had a kill.
Hailey had 13 assists.
Emery got to start the second game after coming back from her ankle.

Pali High
SCORE: 25 - 16, 25 - 13,
Ruby was unstoppable with 6 kills in the quick 2 game set. Sarah also had 7 great digs. Lexi served 6 balls and set the middle really well. Hareena had 2 kills and Amara had 2. Maddie McMann came through with 2 kills and several blocks. Great defense and great serving by the Marymount team.

Cathedral Catholic
Cami passed very well and they served her all match. She had 11 digs and passed a 2.2. Devon and Taylor both had 2 aces leading the team and putting the pressure on the super tall Cathedral team. Devon had 9 kills hitting the line very well. Grace had 6 kills. Very strong blocking by Jennie and Emma was key to this win.

SCORE: 25 - 20, 25 - 16,
Emma Moffet had her best match yet, she blocked well and had 7 kills to hit for 500. Taylor's serving was essential, she had 4 aces and got Marymount a big lead in game 2. Lexi also served well and is getting more comfortable with left back. The passers were great passing 2.2!! Cami and Yurika both passed a 2.3.

San Juan
SCORE: 25 - 14, 25 - 21
Devon passed a 2.6 -- her highest percentage this season! She also passed 11 balls and had 8 kills. Cami had 11 digs and 7 kills. Lexi served very well. Marymount blocked well and served the number 4 team in CIF very well!

Santa Margarita
SCORE: 21 - 24, 18 - 25
Devon and Cami passed a 2.4. Marymount controlled Santa Margarita for most of the first game but Santa Margarita got control at about 18 and finished the game. Game 2 was controlled by S.M. but Marymount fought back and tied it up with 3 aces by Grace. Cami was the kill leader with 8 and the dig leader in the match. Grace had 14 assists. The Sailors finished 2 spots higher than they entered. Devon and Grace were named All-Tournament!
