Softball Heads Into Spring Season Under New Leadership

With a new coach at the helm, Troy Brown, Softball season began with a great turnout at preseason workouts in December.  The team was able to sharpen their skills, which paid off with a strong showing for tryouts.

With an impressive number of returning players, including 2nd team All Sunshine League pitcher Kaitlyn Greta and the addition of a few new players, there is untapped potential that Coach Brown is trying to cultivate.

Coach Brown noted, “The senior leadership from Clare Burgess, Kaitlyn Greta and Kate Wegleitner has been invaluable to kick off the preseason.” With those three anchoring the team for the Sailors the returning Juniors of Caroline Cooper, Genna Whittell,Natalie Elliott, Nikki Livitsanos, and Nora Kilroy have stepped up and elevated the level of competition in practice. With the returning sophomores and powerful hitters, Marina Davis and Sophie Knepper will be highly valuable for the Sailors this season at the plate.

The Sailors are looking forward to an improved season in a strong and competitive Sunshine League. Stay tuned as the Sailors take on Brentwood in a non-league match up, March 8th at Brentwood School 3:45pm.
