Swim Season Summary

The Sailors improved immensely over the course of this year’s 2016 swim season.  The athletes started off with fast swimming against tough teams like Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy and were victorious over Archer.  The girls proved their strength and competitive nature as they progressed to swim against Marlborough and Immaculate Heart. Sophomore Cameron Kahn and Senior Maire Burschinger helped lead the way in points and were consistently reliable at every meet throughout the season.

Most importantly, each of the swimmers tremendously improved throughout the season, whether it was in speed, technique or attitude. Sophomore Carolina Perez was especially impressive as her hard-work ethic and commitment to the team led her to drop significant time at the Sunshine League Championships.

Overall the Sailors received third place just behind Co-Champions Marlborough and Immaculate Heart, edging out Notre Dame Academy in the Sunshine League Championships.  Following League Finals, the team championed six athletes to compete in CIF-SS Prelims and Finals.  The swimmers represented Marymount well, bringing home the following results:

Cameron Kahn:  6th 200 freestyle & 7th100 (consolation bracket)
Maire Burschinger: 6th 200 IM (consolation bracket)
400 Freestyle Relay: Maire Burschinger, Emma Sainsbury Carter, Josephine Rielly & Cameron Kahn 7th (consolation bracket) setting a new school record of 3:52.11!!

This team has so much potential and the coaches are excited to see what’s in store for the future!
