Track Season Summary & Update


The Marymount 2016 Track and Field season was full of great excitement, enthusiasm and immense improvement by every member of the team. The team celebrated its second season in the Mission League with a varsity record of 2-2 and an undefeated JV record of 4 – 0 that led to a Mission League Championship Title. The athletes began the track season confident and powerful, delivering courageous performances in the invitational meets at Culver City, Malibu and Mira Costa.

The team is graduating ten amazing seniors who will be greatly missed, such as: Lelosa Aimufua, Katherine Ascher, Megan Forbes, Linea Fuller, Mychael Green, Claire McGuinness, Ellie Nolan, Hannah Peck, Cynthia Reznik and Jillian Turkmany. The junior class was very impactful to the success of the team, as well as, the remarkably talented sophomore and freshman classes who added the needed strength of consistency to the team.
 
Some impressive and notable results over the course of the season include:
Malina Yago: undefeated in both 1600m and 800m all season
Lindsey McAllister: showed her amazing range by competing in 100m & 300m hurdles, 1600m and 800m
Naomi Smith: Shot put & Discus
 
The freshman class brought their talent and exuberance to the meets, culminating in some notable performances of their own:
Skye Embray:  400m, 200, & Triple Jump
Bella Wright: 1600m, & 3200m
Katherine Scibelli:  Shot put & Discus
Ava Prunier Herman:  400m, Triple Jump, & Relays
Anna Marguleas:  200m
Soihban Burke:  100m & 300m Hurdles
Margad Bayarmagnai: 100m ,Triple Jump
Gigi Garland: Triple Jump
Karen Ogisawa: 100m, 200m, Long Jump
Anamaria & Andriana Buljubasic Marijic
Gwyneth Leung:  1600m
Kya Shepard: High jump & Long Jump
Alexis Westland:  400m
 
Coach Lasan and his coahcing staff: Andres Perezchica, Ronald Sampson and Victor Wilson, are very proud of the Marymount Track & Field Team this season for their excellent sportsmanship, leadership and brilliant competitive attitude resulting in an outstanding season. The team had an impressive showing at CIF-SS Prelims on Saturday, May 14th. The athletes secured three 1st place finishes, two personal best times and the 4x100 relay team nearly set a new school record!
 
CIF-SS Prelims Results:
1600m Malina Yago was 1st in her heat with a new personal best of 5:06
1600m Lindsey McAllister was 10th place with a personal best of 5:13
800m Malina Yago was 1st in her heat 2:18
Shot put Naomi Smith was 28th place
4 x 400m Skye Embray, Megan Carroll, Cecilia Hartge, Malina Yago relay were 1st place in their heat with the time of 4:04.22 missing the school record 4:04.19!
