Fall Season Outlook: Cross Country

Coming off of a very successful 2015-2016 cross country season where the team captured the Sunshine League Co-Champions Title, along with moving up to the Mission League for the 2016-2017 year, the Sailors have put in the hard miles, literally, in order to prepare for 2016.  Summer 2016 was all about discipline and hard work.  Nine Sailors traveled to Mammoth Mountain, California with Coach Lasan and averaged eight miles a day in challenging, thin-air conditions.  Following Mammoth, the athletes were primed for tryouts in August 2016 and Coach Lasan was pleased to welcome fifteen returners and seventeen freshmen (a Marymount record!) to one of the largest cross country tryouts to date.  This special group shares a cohesive, positive and synergistic energy, which Coach Lasan is excited to see.  Along with the motivating energy of the group, the Senior Leadership is stepping up their efforts to help guide and demonstrate what it takes to be part of a successful program.  Returning Assistant Coach Andres and Head Coach Lasan’s goal for the 2016 fall season is for the team to make it all the way to CIF Finals.  Good luck and go Sailors!
