Marymount Volleyball Defeats Harvard-Westlake at All Three Levels
All three levels stepped up to defeat the Wolverines, one of the Sailors' biggest rivals.
Varsity The Sailors play and confidence grew with each game resulting in 44 kills and 8 aces against Harvard-Westlake. Mitzie, who is learning to play middle, showcased all of her hard work with 5 kills, including match point. Yurika had her best match of the season passing a 2.6, digging 14 balls and serving 4 aces. Devon led in kills with 15 and had 11 digs. Cami had 8 kills and 11 digs as well. Grace served an ace and 8 kills. Great team effort by the Sailors! Final Score: 27-25, 25-21, 25-5
JV Thursday night was a crazy night for JV vs Harvard-Westlake. The Sailors got down 10-1 and were frantically trying to settle into a groove. The passing was sporadic, which put JV at a huge disadvantage. Sophie subbed in to serve and slowly the Sailors began to settle, gain some momentum and win points. JV really hit their stride when Caroline served some key aces and Maddy and Alouettte executed some timely blocks. Addie led with kills to finish off with the win 25-18, 25-22.
Frosh/Soph The Freshmen Team won a hard fought match against Harvard-Westlake in 3 sets on Thursday afternoon. The Sailors went down early in game 1, but fought back to win 27-25. After a quick start, the Sailors stumbled in game two and fell 25-20. With a standout performance from Maddy Abadin, Marymount gutted out a tough game 3 and won 15-11 to stay undefeated on the season against Freshmen teams.
