Varsity Volleyball Defeats Alemany

Marymount secured a solid win against the Alemany Warriors on Tuesday night.

The Warriors put the pressure on with tough serves, unsettling our passers and disrupting our offense. However, Sailors took Game 1 25-16 with Alemany making numerous errors and with tough serving of our own, including 3 aces from Mitzi Novicic. Game 2 passed just as quickly, ending 25-16 again. Although Alemany really kept us on our toes, continuing to serve tough, the Sailors responded in kind with 5 aces: 1 more from Mitzi, 2 from Sarah Allman, and 2 from Grace Frohling. Marymount put our fans' nerves through the wringer ringer trading points back and forth with the Alemany Warriors. The Sailors ultimately battled back from 14-17, fought to keep the score tied until 20-20, before finally taking the lead and securing the victory against Alemany 25-21.

Leading in kills were Ruby Lightbourn with 12, Emma Moffet with 8, and Devon Newberry with 6. Emma continued to play well, tying with Grace Frohling with 3 blocks, followed by Devon and Jennie Burke who each had 2. Grace and Lexie Freund led in assists with 17 and 10. Mitzi Novicic led the team in serving with 4 aces, followed by Grace and Sarah with 2 each. The Marymount Sailors, after a long drive, and an even longer run through a corn maze at the pumpkin patch, pulled together and focused to secure the win against the Bishop Alemany Warriors.

Final Scores:
25-16, 25-16, 25-21
