The Marymount JV Soccer team defeated arch-rival Marlborough 2-0 this week.
JV Soccer Stats:
Goals: 1st half: Ava Prunier Herman assisted by Sam Jackson. Ball came from the center midfield to Sam (center target forward) who played a tough ball into the 18 yard box to Ava who sped past her defender and finished the goal.
2nd half: Ava Prunier Herman unassisted. Ball played in off of Marymount corner. Shot by Ali Adams deflected out by Marlborough out to Ava who put it in the back of the net right outside of the 6 yard box.
Overall, Marymount controlled play the whole game. The Sailors had many opportunities to score and the speed from the offense got past Marlborough's defense on numerous occasions. Coach Call is proud of the way JV played for their first game. The Sailors executed what was worked on in practice, which is more than any coach could ever ask for from their players on the first match of the season. Coach is also very proud of the two field players who stepped up and played in goal. Sarah Knight had a shutout in the 1st half and Shannon Dutton had a couple saves to keep the shutout in the 2nd half. It was a team effort which is encouraging to see and a great way to start the season!
