JV Soccer Wraps Up Hart Tournament

The JV Sailors finished with one win and one loss on the last weekend of the Hart Tournament.

Game 1:
Marymount 0 - Simi Valley 2

The Sailors struggled in the first half of the game, much like our previous game. Only this time, we were not so lucky to score. Simi Valley was the lucky one today to come away with a goal in the first half to make it 0-1. The Sailors came out hard in the 2nd half getting many opportunities to score including a Penalty Kick and were unable to capitalize. After the Sailors had opportunity after opportunity in the 2nd half, Simi Valley did not to seem to have many opportunities until the last 2 minutes of the game when they scored a goal that went off the hand of our keeper.

MVP Offense: Olivia Mack
MVP Defense: Isabel Bellitti and Audrey Hoen

Game 2:
Marymount 2 - Notre Dame HS 1
After the coaching staff prepared the team by preaching the importance of coming out strong from the start of the game, the Sailors went into the game on fire, getting a goal within the opening 5 minutes of play. Ali Adams took it upon herself to put her team up 1-0 by dribbling past her defenders with ease and rocketing a shot into the back of the net, unassisted. Unfortunately, Notre Dame was able to answer with a goal of their own in the 1st half making it 1-1. Skyler Frank proved that anything they could do she could do better and with an assist from Olivia Mack, Sklyer cut off her defender and shot a perfectly placed shot with her left foot into the far right corner of the goal making it 2-1 at halftime. All the Sailors had to do now was play great defense and not let Notre Dame answer with another equalizer. With Sarah Knight leading the way in goal and Isabel Bellitti denying anything back to the keeper, the Sailors did just that. The game would end 2-1 Sailors. This was by far the best game the team has played all year. Coming out strong from the start and finishing just as strong through a hard fought battle with a talented opponent.
